About Gloria

Gloria embraces change. An Army brat, she has constantly been on the go, never living anywhere for more than a few years. The moving bug followed her to college. Gloria studied abroad twice. First, at Oxford University to read literature followed by an intensive media semester at Washington D.C.

While in D.C., she interned for Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell of NBC News. She also covered the metro D.C. area as an assignment desk intern at WUSA 9, a CBS affiliate. Elsewhere, Gloria has been involved in editorial internships and has been involved with a web startup. An aspiring multimedia journalist, she has made a conscious effort to excel in all platforms of journalism, whether it’s  print, video, photography or web. As a visual storyteller with a passion for writing and a growing interest in the coding world, this bodes well for her.

Gloria graduated from The College of William and Mary with a B.A. in English and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in journalism at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism with a concentration in health/science reporting and documentary filmmaking.

When not reading or exploring Chicago, Gloria is interested in finding a solution for sustainable journalism.

There’s a race of men that don’t fit in,
A race that can’t stay still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin,
And they roam the world at will.
They range the field and they rove the flood,
And they climb the mountain’s crest;
Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood,
And they don’t know how to rest.

If they just went straight they might go far;
They are strong and brave and true;
But they’re always tired of the things that are,
And they want the strange and new.
